About Rob
Thank you for being here. My guitar journey started at the age of 12. My older brothers are responsible for putting Van Halen's first album in my cassette player on repeat and kicking off a lifetime of fun for me. My mom (a pianist) insisted I took lessons, so I signed up at the local music store immediately. I had a chance to study with some great teachers through high school and play in rock bands all around San Diego. When I came of college age, a music major was the only choice I even considered. I was able to study with the legendary Los Romeros quartet on classical guitar at UCSD, while also playing in the jazz ensemble and befriending all the rock musicians I could and jamming after hours. I was able to study for a summer with famed studio bassist (and jazz guitarist) Carol Kaye. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in guitar performance from UCSD and went on to earn a Master of Music degree from San Diego State University. In my 30's I became strongly interested in photography and the visual arts and my career went a different way into photo and video where I still spend a great deal of time. Music however remains a high priority for me and I continue to learn, teach, share and perform throughout our great city of San Diego and beyond.
